AMEGAFORCE Oscillation Technology

NTS Amega Global has a range of performance tools, including AMEGAFORCE that have been developed specifically for our customers to enhance their drilling and downhole operations.

AMEGAFORCE is a friction reduction tool that is used routinely in directional and horizontal drilling applications. AMEGAFORCE consists of three main components; a power section, a shock tool, and the valve insert. Approximately 15 ft in length, the tool sits above the BHA in the drill string to improve drilling performance.

AMEGAFORCE provides controlled and consistent drill string oscillation to overcome friction in your wellbore. The controlled and consistent axial motion tuned for each job reduces stick-slip and improves ROP, as well as weight transfer on the bit.

The reduced friction and the overall performance of AMEGAFORCE leads to shorter drilling intervals, mitigates extended reach drilling challenges, improves bit life, and yields higher-quality boreholes that improve efficiency during subsequent completions operations.

ABOUT AMEGAFORCE

TORQUE CAPABILITY
15,000 ft-LBS - High Torque tool – 35,000 ft-LBS.
PRESSURE DROP
Can be adjusted across the AMEGAFORCE tool.
FISHABLE
AMEGAFORCE is fishable with an overshot and grapple.
BETTER WEIGHT TRANSFER
Overcomes friction of the drill string during sliding operations.
IMPROVED ROP
Gives more consistent ROP and better ROP during sliding operations.
FULLY TESTED INTERNALS
Internal materials and connections chosen based on performance over 500 runs.
MWD FRIENDLY
Fully symmetric design generates consistent axial motion from minimal moving parts eliminating pulse harmonics that interfere with MWD communication.
ADJUSTABLE
Adjustable to specific well conditions.
FORCE OUTPUT CONTROL
Adjustable based on mud weight, flow rate, and pressure drop for the application.
NO EXTRA CONNECTIONS
Integrated shock sub reduces connections at the rig and eliminates rental of a separate tool.

  1. Does The AmegaForce cause MWD signal interference? No, the operating frequency is above the typical range of mud-pulse telemetry systems, preventing interference with real-time downhole data from MWD and LWD tools.

  1. How does the AmegaForce help prevent torsional stick-slip? Controlled and consistent axial motion tuned for each job overcomes the grip of friction, particularly during slide intervals, and allows more weight from the drill string to be transmitted efficiently to the drill bit.

  1. Is it possible to use two AmegaForce tools in the drill string? Yes, we use job planning data to optimize placement and the effective distance of the friction reduction force for both tools.

  1. What is the standard pressure drop across the tool? 5” Standard flow – 400-600 psi, High flow – 500-750 psi 6.5” Standard flow 400-600 psi

  1. What size tools are available? 5” Standard flow & High flow, 6.5” Standard flow

  1. What is the frequency range of the tool? 9-13 Hertz

  1. Can the force output be modified in the field? Yes, the AMEGAFORCE is configurable on location by changing the restriction area of the valve.

  1. How is the nozzle size selected – Mud weight, mud type/viscosity and allowable pressure drop across the drill string will be the main factors that will affect the nozzle selection in the pre-job planning process. It is crucial to have this information as accurate as possible to ensure the best downhole performance. Information will be provided to engineering for selection.

  1. How long is the tool? The Amega force is 15’ – 17’ in total length depending on the OD size.

  1. What connections can be cut on the tool? 5” Tool – 3 ½ IF, XT39, 4” FH 5” Tool – 4-1/2IF, DS50
